Class Descriptions:

 

Urban Street Vibe:

Classes Combine all the fundamentals of Street Dance, such as Hip Hop, Breakdance, Popping, Locking, Waving, Sliding, Liquid etc.

 

Contemporary:

Using dance techniques and methods found in ballet, modern dance and postmodern dance,

it also draws from other philosophies of movement that are outside the realm of classical dance technique.

Contemporary dance employs many modern dance techniques such as contact-release,

fall and recovery, floor work, improvisation, and lifts in partnering.

A must class for all serious dancers wanting to enter into further and higher dance education.

 

Ballroom & Latin:

Ballroom consists of any of the various social dances, such as the Fox Trot, Tango, or Waltz,

in which couples follow a conventional pattern of steps.

Latin American dances consists of : Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Paso Doble, & Jive.

Compared to typical ballroom dances, Latin dances are generally faster-paced, more sensual, and have more rhythmic expression.

 

Freestyle:

Freestyle Disco is a very fast paced energetic style of dance, performed to fast paced pop and dance music.

Don't be fooled by the name, John Travolta is no where to be seen!.

For decades this style has been at the forefront of Popular Dance,

combining style, grace and energy to create an intensely fulfilling performance based workout.

 

Performing Arts:

Running throughout the year, consisting of drama, singing, various dance styles, and creative filming

students of this class take the leading roles in our annual production and take annual examinations in Musical Theatre and Drama.

 

Breakdance:

Breakdancing, also known as "B-boying" or "B-girling" by its practitioners and followers,

is a dynamic style of dance that is part of Hip Hop culture emerged out of the Hip-Hop movement

in the South Bronx of New York City during the late 20th century.

Breakdancing is one of the many elements of Hip Hop culture. The unique form of dancing is very acrobatic and creative.

Breakdance has been performed in countless shows, music videos on MTV and at dance clubs. A VERY impressive dance style.

 

Tap:

A style in which the rhythm is sounded out by the clicking taps on the heels and toes of a dancers shoes.

Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers are typically associated with this style of dance,

although more modern groups such as the Tap Dogs have re-vamped this traditional style of dance.

 

Ballet:

A classical dance form characterized by grace and precision of movement

and by elaborate formal gestures, steps, and poses.

A must class for all serious dancers wanting to enter into further and higher dance education.

 

Cheerleading:

Fusing Cheerleading, Urban styles, and Stunting, a very lively, energetic class. Get your poms at the ready!

 

 

Street Dance (MLD):

Even with learning difficulties, children have amazing abilities! This class takes a patient, approach to Street Dance,

learning at a fun, comfortable pace.

Examinations for our MLD students are always encouraged, but are entirely optional.

 

Urban Street:

This class trains students in street dance techniques,

and trains students for street dance examinations.

 

Junior Contemporary:

This class trains students in basic-advanced various contemporary techniques,

and prepares students for study at vocational level.

 

Junior Ballroom & Latin:

Get your Strictly on and learn to dance like the stars!

This class trains students in Ballroom & Latin techniques,

and trains students for examinations.

 

Freestyle:

This class trains students in freestyle dance techniques,

and prepares students for freestyle examinations.

 

Competitive Freestyle:

This class trains students towards freestyle competitions.

 

Breakdance:

This class trains students in breakdance techniques & choreography for examinations

 

Junior Tap:

This class trains students in tap techniques for graded examinations,

and prepares students for study at vocational level.

 

Junior Ballet:

This class trains students in advanced ballet technique for graded examinations,

and prepares students for study at vocational level.

 

Cheerleading:

This class introduces students to cheerleading & stunting techniques,

and traines students for cheerleading examinations. Come shake your pom poms!

The starting point for all young budding street dancers is to enrol in our classes.

All of our street & Breakdance students get the opportunity to enter into street dance competitions throughout the year,

and we are always on the lookout in all street classes for the next talented student to become a member of ANSD Crew.

 

Looking to get into competing or entering the world of performing with our well established Cheer Squads?

The starting point for all young budding cheerleaders is to enrol in our classes.

All of our cheerleading students get the opportunity to enter into cheer dance competitions throughout the year,

and we are always on the lookout in all cheer classes for the next talented student to become a member of ANSD Cheer Squad.

Please Note: All classes on our Timetable are exam classes, pupils will be trained and entered for Dance Examinations twice per year.

Anyone not wishing to participate in examinations, please attend classes marked with a * only.

Adults wishing to participate in examinations may do so, please speak to your class Instructor who will advise you further.

 

Private Tuition is available in all Subjects at a cost of £25.00 per hour, for up to 2 people.
